💜 Epilepsy Programs for the Body and Mind
In Texas, no one faces epilepsy alone.
Epilepsy Foundation Texas takes a holistic approach to living with epilepsy, ensuring our programs address both the physical and emotional aspects of the condition. Our mission is to provide the Community, Care, and Hope needed for every person affected by epilepsy to thrive.
🏕️ Youth and Family Epilepsy Camps
Our free, specialized camps are central to providing Hope and Community. These camps emphasize physical exercise, immersion in nature, and team-building, all while supported by dedicated medical professionals.
-
Camp Spike ’n’ Wave®: For children and young teens, ages 8–14.
-
Kamp Kaleidoscope®: For older teens, ages 15–19.
-
CAMP I.G.N.I.T.E.: Our spring weekend family camp where entire households can connect and grow together.
Hundreds of young people and families benefit from our life-changing camps each year.

-
Services: We provide comprehensive medical care, including diagnostic testing and prescription assistance.
-
Accessibility: Qualified persons living with epilepsy receive this care without charge.
-
Funding: Our epilepsy clinics are completely funded by generous gifts from people like you and state partnerships, allowing us to serve more than 1,500 patients each year.
📚 Education and Seizure Safety
Education plays a central role in our approach, providing the Empowerment necessary for safe and independent living.
-
Sam’s Law: The Foundation and its community partners were essential in passing Sam’s Law, which requires public school employees in Texas to be trained in seizure recognition and first aid.
- Seizure First Aid Certification: We offer training courses that lead to Seizure First Aid Certification, equipping members of the public, caregivers, and professionals with the essential skills to recognize seizures and provide help safely. This program is critical to ensuring immediate Care is available when needed.
-
Education Webinars and Conferences: Our education programs are comprehensive, covering topics such as:
-
Stress management
-
Cooking for epilepsy and other neurocognitive disorders.
-
Workplace skills, including how to identify and respond to workplace discrimination.
-
🤝 Support Groups: Building Community
We acknowledge the powerful role that Community plays in mental and emotional health. Therefore, we facilitate support groups across the state.
-
Safe Space: These groups create a sense of community for those affected by epilepsy and provide a professional, confidential means of expression.
-
Participation: Thanks to our dedicated group leaders and community resources, approximately 150 Texans participate in our support groups each year.
