ABOUT US
EPILEPSY FOUNDATION TEXAS
Our Story
The history of the Epilepsy Foundation Texas is a testament to the power of community, advocacy, and unwavering dedication to ensuring that In Texas, no one faces epilepsy alone.

The journey began in 1983 with Donna Stahlhut. After her son was diagnosed with epilepsy, Donna faced an “utter lack of support” and struggled to find information, resources, or a way to connect with other families. Driven by her frustration, she took a proactive stand, installing a phone in her kitchen—the starting point for establishing a vital network of information and support.

This grassroots effort led to the founding of the Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Texas.

Growth and Consolidation
Over 40 years, the organization strengthened its reach and impact:

-
2008: The name changed to the Epilepsy Foundation of Texas after expanding service to North Texas when we merged with the local Dallas/Fort Worth area office.
-
2011: The Foundation combined efforts with the respected 38-year-old Epilepsy Foundation West Texas
This expansion created a stronger, more united force, now serving 176 counties in the state of Texas.
